Pakistan Leads Quadrilateral Push for Iran-US De-escalation

On Monday, March 30, 2026, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt following a quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, aimed at de-escalating the month-long conflict between the United States and Iran and preventing a wider regional spillover threatening global energy security. In a bilateral meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan's "unwavering solidarity" with the Kingdom, praising its restraint and leadership within the Muslim Ummah, while in separate engagements with Turkish FM Hakan Fidan and Egyptian FM Dr. Badr Abdelatty, he stressed the urgent need for collective Muslim unity to end hostilities causing heavy loss of life and economic damage across the region. The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Pakistan's resolve to serve as a bridge, working to bring both Iran and the United States to the negotiating table.
